How this calculator works
Leave balance is simple arithmetic: entitlement minus leave already used gives the balance before the request, and subtracting the new request gives the balance after it. A negative result means the request is larger than what remains.
Leave between dates uses the same day counting as the Working Days Calculator. It lists calendar days, weekend days and holidays for the range and reports the working days as the number of leave days to deduct.
Frequently asked questions
What does Leave balance mode do?+
It subtracts the leave already used from the annual entitlement to show what is left, then subtracts the new request to show the balance after it is approved.
What does Leave between dates mode do?+
It counts the days in a date range and removes weekends and any public holidays you add, so you see how many working days the leave actually uses.
Why can I include or exclude the start and end date?+
Some requests start after a weekend or end before one, or the employee works a half day. Turning a date off removes it from the count.
Does it handle half days?+
Balance mode accepts half days, for example 0.5. Date mode counts whole days.
