How this calculator works
In Monthly salary mode the calculator divides the monthly salary by the number of working days in the month to get a daily rate. It then multiplies that rate by the paid days: the days actually worked plus paid leave, and sick leave if you mark it as paid. Unpaid leave days are not paid.
In Daily rate mode you enter the daily amount yourself, which suits daily-paid staff and contractors. Overtime is hours multiplied by the overtime rate per hour, and bonuses and deductions are added and subtracted at the end.

Frequently asked questions
How is daily salary calculated?+
The monthly salary is divided by the number of working days in that month. With €1,000 and 22 working days, the daily rate is €45.45. You can also switch to Daily rate mode and enter the daily amount directly.
Does paid leave reduce salary?+
No. Paid leave days are added to the days worked, so they are paid at the normal daily rate. Only unpaid leave is left out of the paid days.
How do unpaid days affect salary?+
Unpaid leave days are simply not counted as paid days. The base salary is the daily rate multiplied by days worked plus paid leave, so each unpaid day reduces the salary by one daily rate.
Can I add overtime?+
Yes. Enter the overtime hours and the overtime rate per hour. If you need to work the rate out from a multiplier such as 1.5x, use the Overtime Calculator first.
Can I add bonuses or deductions?+
Yes. A bonus is added to the base salary and other deductions are subtracted. Both appear in the calculation breakdown.
Is this payroll calculator country-specific?+
No. It is a generic calculation based on days worked and does not apply any country's tax, social contribution or labour rules. Country-specific calculators may be added separately.
