How this calculator works

Each row is one working day. Hours worked are the time between start and end minus the break. Hours above the regular hours per day are counted as overtime. Totals across all rows are shown on the right, and if you enter an hourly rate the calculator also shows regular pay, overtime pay and total pay.

Frequently asked questions

How are hours worked calculated?+

For each row the calculator takes the end time minus the start time and subtracts the break in minutes. 09:00 to 17:30 with a 30 minute break is 8 hours.

What counts as overtime?+

Anything above the regular hours per day you set, 8 by default. Set it to 0 to count all hours as regular time.

Does it handle night shifts?+

Yes. If the end time is earlier than the start time, the shift is treated as crossing midnight.

Are my rates saved?+

The rates, currency and regular hours are remembered in your browser. The rows themselves are not, so print or note them before you leave.
